Candidate for Sheriff of Yadkin County
Leadership. Accountability. Public Safety.
Robert Reavis is a Christian, husband, father, and Republican; born and raised in Yadkin County. With more than 15 years of experience in law enforcement and public service, Robert understands what it takes to keep communities safe.
He served as a North Carolina State Trooper, specialized instructor for North Carolina Highway Patrol, Sergeant North Carolina State Trooper, DEA Task-Force Officer, and now works as a financial crimes investigator. Throughout his career, Robert built a reputation for professionalism, sound judgment, and doing what is right—even when it was difficult.
Robert understands that public safety is not built through reaction or rhetoric. It is built through leadership, preparation, accountability, and trust.
He is running for Sheriff because he believes Yadkin County deserves an agency that is disciplined, professional, transparent, and prepared for the future.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Training and Development from North Carolina State University, providing a strong academic foundation in:
This education has shaped my career-long emphasis on training, preparation, and measurable outcomes, rather than reaction or rhetoric.
I was elected to serve a four-year term on the Yadkin County Board of Education, where I consistently supported school safety and student protection initiatives, including:
I also served as an appointed member of the Yadkin County Child Fatality Prevention Task Force, contributing to multidisciplinary efforts focused on identifying risk factors, strengthening protective systems, and preventing future tragedies involving children.
In addition to my professional service, my wife and I have served as foster parents for over two years, welcoming children into our home during some of the most difficult seasons of their lives.
Foster care has deepened my understanding of trauma, accountability, boundaries, and compassion. It has reinforced the importance of stability, consistency, and trust—not just in families, but in the systems meant to protect children.
This experience is not theoretical. It is personal. It has strengthened my resolve to ensure that children are protected, vulnerable families are supported, and that law enforcement works collaboratively with DSS, schools, and community partners to intervene early and wisely.
I also serve as a leader in church security, helping ensure a safe and welcoming environment for families, children, and worshippers.
This role requires vigilance without intimidation, preparation without escalation, and discernment under pressure. It has reinforced the importance of quiet professionalism, clear protocols, and coordination with local first responders—especially in environments where people should feel safe, not watched.
Serving in this capacity has sharpened my appreciation for prevention, situational awareness, and respectful engagement—principles that directly translate to modern public safety leadership.
Public safety is not confined to a uniform or a badge. It is lived out in homes, schools, churches, and communities.
My experience as a foster parent and church security leader reinforces a simple truth: the best protection is proactive, relational, and rooted in trust.
In addition to my operational law enforcement background, I currently serve as a Financial Crimes Investigator, conducting complex investigations into:
This work has sharpened my ability to:
It also provides unique insight into the financial systems that support narcotics trafficking, human trafficking, and organized crime, while protecting seniors and vulnerable citizens from exploitation.
The Sheriff sets the culture of the agency.
Culture determines morale.
Morale determines performance.
Performance determines public safety.
I'm running because Yadkin County deserves steady, professional leadership—leadership that plans ahead, sets clear standards, and puts public safety above politics.
Clear expectations. Consistent standards. Ethical leadership.
Preventing crime, not just reacting. Going after sources, not symptoms.
Real-world training. Strong coordination. One team focused on safety.
"Having known Robert for 20 years, I cannot imagine a more honest and fair individual to lead our county."
